He plays a lot better with a PG like jeremy Lin who looks for him moving without the ball. He gets lost in the shuffle otherwise.

I actually wanna retract my vote. I voted overrated but i dont really think either of these choices describe him well. I mean for all of the highs and all of the lows people forget we're still talking about a second rounder who makes about 800k per yr, which in nba money is just over minimum wage. When put into that context hes still overachieving. I just think he really needs to spend the offseason working on his skills. As far as the intangables go hes already one of our best player. You watch a game he sucks in and look over and he'll have like 6-8 rebounds most nights, he does play defense although he can be overmatched by shooters who seem to weave through screens alot but to me thats a team defense and communication issue, especially for a switching team like ours.

My biggest beef with Landry is that he dribbles with only one hand with his head down. Although sometimes I wish guys like Jr and Shumpert would take a page out of Landrys book, stop dribbling and go stright toward the basket. Sometimes Fields dribbling ignorance allows him to just power drive it for a dunk while the others fall on love with crossing people over for stepback jumpshots.
The second is his shooting. I really feel that Landry could use a personalize shooting coach but hey, hes got guys like Novak, Houston. These guys gotta work together and Fields gotta put in the work.
We need more Ray-ality.

He needs to do more cutting especially when Melo has the ball on an iso. His best quality is his athleticism and activity, so he should watch film on the areas on the floor he can cut to and where to find offensive rebounds.

They said he change his shooting form in the off-season. Obviously he just made it worse

Really...if his shot was better he would be a much better player.

For whatever reason he can't seem to hit anything outside of 12-15 ft...including a free throw!

Which is ridiculous!

Yeah, we wouldn't even need to make this thread if he could shoot better. He does everything else pretty well: decent defender, good passer, good teammate.

But seriously, every time he shoots I think he's going to miss. And that goes for free throws too!

I still love him though. I hope he can improve and stay with us.

If he developed a shot he would be the unsung hero. With our offense he is always going to be open. Hopefully he can learn to convert better, especially at the free throw line. He should be practicing at least 500 mid range - 3 pointer jump shots a day

soph slump, plus he changed his shot over the summer to ill effect. i didn't like the fact that he added upper body mass, just thought he needed to be a bit stronger, not heavier. if anything, he should work on his lateral speed and overall quickness.

he gets a normal summer of training, then he will go back to what made him successful as a rookie. he still has plenty of upside to his game.

Much better game tonight Landry.

Although your shot still looked ugly as fuck.

If this guy develops a SPOT UP SHOT. Key on the "spot up". It doesn't even have to be a pull up. Just develop a damn spot up shot Landry and you'll be SOOOOO much more valuable.

Shoot with Novak EVERY DAY over the Summer.

Slump. He is always in there at the start, and we have been having some great starts.

Overrated, not that I'm saying he's bad. JMO, but he looks so uncomfortable and hesitant when he drives to the basket (especially when he finishes with those weird floaters of his) that I cringe when he's trying to score. He needs to stick to finishing plays and not trying to create his own shot, once he figures out his own game, he'll be a solid rotation player.

I don't think he's overrated, he's just hasn't performed to our expectations. However, I don't want to select the soph slump option because I'm extremely worried about his shot. Despite his numbers, he wasn't the greatest shooter last year. His release had to be timed with a sundial and now he has the flattest shot ever, but it is quicker. I think the best way to view him is that he did change his shot in some meaningful way, so he does have the will to fix it, also I enjoy his willingness to drive. So I'm gonna try to be optimistic about Landry.

Landry always plays hard.

...and if I have nothing else nice to say at the moment, I respect him enough to leave it at that.

N8 what do you mean? He is great when he is driving to the basket...that is actually his strength...he should stay 12-15 ft in until he regains comfort in his shot.

Right now he has no confidence and his form is terrible as well.

Everything else about his game is fine...thats why he starts...he does the intangibles and is great going to the rim.

Out of the starting lineup, now shooting 24% from 3 point range and an AWFUL 56% from the line.

IMO he has looked really week and hesitant a lot this season when he drives to the basket. He picks up his dribble in the middle of drives, shoots a lot of floaters and when he doesn't get right to the rim he usually doesn't get a good shot and the team doesn't get another look.

I think his strength is moving without the ball, especially if he can get hit on passes on his way to the basket. At least I think that's his strength moreso than putting the ball on the floor and driving.

Fields shot 40% from three his rookie year, as well as 77% from the line. The guy can shoot - he's just in a really bad slump. May as well use our Bird rights to keep him on a cheap contract and hope he finds his stroke again.

But even if Landry is shitting the bed on offense, where has the rebounding gone? Remember when this guy was the top rebounding guard in basketball as a rook? He averaged 6.4 per game in 31 minutes last season. Now he's down to 4.2 boards in 29 minutes. Some of that can be attributed to our reduced pace of play, but not all of it. He's letting his offensive struggles affect the rest of his game. We're already weak on the glass. Fields could really help us there. And maybe if he focuses on rebounding, the rest of his game will come along.

His confidence is shit right now. He looks timid with everything he does and he's not attacking the glass like he was doing last year. Woody's been getting on his case as well and I don't know how Landry handles yelling
