Thoughts.

Really like the fact that everyone played. It kept the pace going and really helped the energy on defense. No one needed to play a ton of minutes. True team basketball.
The defense gave up plenty of points but they were active and forced lots of turnovers.
Knicks held control of the paint.
Trier is going to be a big contributor.
Kanter, Vonleh looked very good together. Too bad Mitch couldn't play much.
Knox has a long way to go. You like the activity though.
Mario showed his firepower scoring about a point per minute.
Can Hardaway do this consistently? 20 PPG would be good for him.
Way to protect home court. Not sure if it will last but it was a good effort.
No longer sick and tired that Kurt wasn't hired.

Joakim Noah, while banking $17.8 million, tallied a grand total 12 points and 4 assists over the entirety of the 2017-18 season. Tonight, Noah Vonleh scored 12 points (on 5-of-5 shooting), grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists in just 16 minutes.
No longer sick and tired that Kurt wasn't hired.

Good points.

Still think Frank at the 3 is a waste, miss not seeing him handle the ball more but he was solid.

Mario is our Euro JR.

Fun game, great for morale to play the hawks

Fiz is the truth. The players fight for him and he fights for them.

Only real issue is bad execution in half court offense, but what does that matter when the team is generally in transition all game.

Is this the Knicks im watching????

It's the fun part of the start of a season IMO. They don't know yet the challenges from a talent gap standpoint that will hit them later. But I absolutely loved, how they settled down after having some jitters at the beginning and just went to work after that till halftime. In the second half they did what they had to, to protect the lead. Knicks looked prepared while the Hawks already looked like the worst team (I basically expect them to be).

Trier's dunk a cool exclamation point!

BTW: the second highest scoring quarter in Knick history in your first game as a Knicks coach? That is impressive no matter the opponent!

Very happy with what I saw today.

Trier, Vonleh, Mario all very positive.....jury still out on whether Timmy can be consistent & if Frank can reach his potential.
Knox wont win ROTY but I think will really hit his stride in the last qtr of the season.

What I am probably happiest with is its only game 1 and I loved the way the team was coached & how they responded to the coaching.
Makes me optimistic for when we have better players.

The consistent effort was so refreshing. This team will be fun to watch, win or lose, if they play that way every night.

Obviously Tim was on tonight, but the shot selection was still suspect at times. Trier has NBA athleticism and scoring ability. I was actually impressed with the way Baker impacted the game. Solid all around game from Frank too. Kanter seemed quicker and sharper on defense than at any point last season. Maybe because he's slimmed down a bit? Very interested to see if that continues - he's a totally different player if he can even be average defensively.

Let's not forget that this is how the team looks without Big Mitch and KP to spread the floor and protect the paint. Excited for what the team will look like once our youngins mature a bit and we have a consistent, healthy 8-10 man rotation.

Probably replayed that Trier dunk 15 times btw...Starks esque

If anyone missed the game.

Game ball goes to the guy who hit the half court shot for $10,000 at the first time out. Totally loosened the team up.

Great game all around, Knicks really bringing alive Fizdale's vision. The biggest factor was the pace, Hawks just couldn't keep up. Everyone contributed and hopefully we can expect this all season long. Fun basketball, great win.
