Who would welcome (Uncle) Kurt Thomas back?

Postby Boston_PuppyDawg on March 10, 2010, 1:55 am

He's a free agent in 2010....would you guys take a look at him for cheap? (i do realize that we'll be pursuing the CambyMan as one of our offseason priorities)
PEJ: “Fans will say things like, ‘Your daddy’s better,’ ” he said late last week. “They think I don’t know that already? I like to shut people up. I’m more focused on proving to them that I’m not my father. I’m myself. I can do my own thing.”

another undersized center? I'd much rather go with an actual big, allow Lee to go to PF

If Lee is playing for us next year, it's a No from me.

However I realize that the risk of Lee signing elsewhere is quite high, so in that case, it's a Maybe. He can still bring some rebis now and then.
He will have to be cheap, though.

I am waiting for Egluck's comments.

a 37 year old Kurt Thomas would instantly be the toughest and best post defender on the team if we signed him, without a doubt

in that breath we might as well resign Sprewell, he's not doing much nowadays I hear. And how about that third comeback attempt by H20

(half sarcasm, half truth because those three at their current ages would be more entertaining than the guys we have)

seriously, ya gonna give eg a coronary with a thread like this.

i doubt if kt has anything left, maybe only spot minutes and vet leadership in the locker room/practice.

when I read the thread title I thought .... as a coach?

We were discussing whether he had anything left when he left five years ago.

I'd welcome him, Spree and Houston back ... but not to f'in play!

I liked Kurt's toughness while with the Knicks....but even many years ago, he was unathletic and seemed 'old'. No thanks.

dude, that's a report from the January of '09. why in the world give the Blazers anything if we can get Marcus straight up for cash?

It really matters who else we pick up but if we have length in the starting 5, then having a thumper as the back up is smart. If we have that in the starting 5, he's not needed.

What other bigs are on the market this offseason?

While we're having fun, let's call back Jamal Crawful to the Knicks!

Ooo, ooo... can we get Vin Baker in the paint again provided he doesn't sniff the dried fumes?

in any case, doesn't Marcus make the most sense of any bigs out there? the price should be right and he brings exactly what we're lacking
