no less an mc than q-tip imo, maybe he's not a genius beat writer but you'd be hard pressed to find in music, public speaking or literature many other guys who evoked a spirit of such charm and warmth as phife did over and over on tracks like this one. You can hear ubiquitous notes of negativity and cynicism in the tone of the "great ones", not just in hip hop, in everything. but there's none of that in Phife. and he aint a punk, aint a pollyanna, he is 100%. I really, really, liked him. Fuck this, it's not like I was expecting any more output from him but it's still so tragic to think he's gone at just 45!!! RIP!!! He's on point!!
