The Five Foot Assassin! RIP my man. You played a huge role in my discovery of hip hop.

The eternal connection between Phife Dawg, New York hip-hop and the Knicks. http://www.postingandtoasting.com/2016/ ... op-and-the

WPJ had just mentioned him in another thread, maybe 2 weeks ago.

Rest in peace.

i love phife rip

no less an mc than q-tip imo, maybe he's not a genius beat writer but you'd be hard pressed to find in music, public speaking or literature many other guys who evoked a spirit of such charm and warmth as phife did over and over on tracks like this one. You can hear ubiquitous notes of negativity and cynicism in the tone of the "great ones", not just in hip hop, in everything. but there's none of that in Phife. and he aint a punk, aint a pollyanna, he is 100%. I really, really, liked him. Fuck this, it's not like I was expecting any more output from him but it's still so tragic to think he's gone at just 45!!! RIP!!! He's on point!!

^^^TLET blew my mind and speakers! Back then, that social conscious, knowledge-dropping, tree-hugger hip hop really grabbed my ears. Phife, Tip and De La really set it off!
