Where did all these young, promising centers come from all of a sudden?

Discuss matters related to other teams, players, and/or the league in general.

U know what's interesting his d league stats don't indicate what his NBA stats are at this point.

Which is fun to imagine who else can produce in this league but hasn't had the chance.

Like Whiteside a guy I liked out of college was Mike Muscula... 6'11 rebounds and hits medium range well along with a good passer for a big.

Once you have Ur leaders in place its easy to find guys that fit your style of play...mike fits our style of play sadly he fits atlantas also but horford/Millsap got it locked there with other vets

Atlanta has him on a deal but shouldnt take much to pry him away.

Yep Whiteside is gonna get a MAJOR pay rise in 2016.....good on him too.
Hopefully he chases the $ so I don't have to watch him tear it up for Miani no more!

Anyway, as for the talented young big men - I really like what I have seen from Enes Kanter.

Been watching Utah games due to Ingles & Exum but I have been really impressed with Kanter.
If we are looking for a FA big man, he might be a damn good option.

He is restricted and Utah have been dreaming of this twin tower BS with him and Favors

He's not a bad option...last I saw hes weak on defense and rebounding...is this true now?

Don Che,

Whiteside had bad numbers in D-League? The ones I saw looked pretty decent. But I understand what you're saying and yes I agree that having leaders already in place helped Whiteside's game in many ways. Also, Coach Spo's bringing him along in the minutes category probably built his stamina and confidence? I'd never heard of Muscula, but I'm gonna starting checking for him and watch a few YouTube videos to get an idea. I saw where Atlanta's starting 5 players were honored as Player of the Month, today.

Don't think I've ever witnessed that before. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/12283 ... th-january

Shakes, I think Don was talking about Enes Kanter. No way would he dare dismiss DA GAWD Hassan Whiteside

Agreed. And neither would Blake Griffin.

He's averaging 14 & 8 but put up BIG numbers when Favors has been out.

Jazz would probably match any offer, that's the only problem as you don't wanna overpay.

When the Clippers are at home the free throw lane is painted blue so what you're seeing is the blue reflecting off the bottom of Whiteside's white outsole...

"Asked if there were any similarities between he and Whiteside, Andersen said, Absolutely not. He does everything 10 times better than I do it. With his length and his wingspan and jumping ability – s***, he’s doing everything with ease. It looks like a video game deal where you create your own guy."

- Chris Andersen, who spoke glowingly about teammate Hassan Whiteside on Monday.
About a month ago, Whiteside probably listed as "player not found" on the video game.

I'm gonna call it now - Whiteside will be riding the end of an NBA bench in 2 years.

And yes this is partly because I hate cHeat players...

Yeh I can see kanter dropping double doubles here...defense can improve from that age.

Plus most bigs are bad defenders till they get to the playoffs and get a rep.

I want us to grab a young free agent that's a building block with our draft pick...Enes and Mudiay/Towns/Russell is intriguing..... Oka for and him are similar tho wouldn't pair that up

As you can see by my posts in this thread I'd be all over a Kanter trade!

How about...

NYK receive: Enes Kanter + Jeremy Evans + Ian Clark

UTH receive: Jose Calderon + Tim Hardaway Jr

I think this really works for both teams.
Utah get a Vet PG to pass on knowledge to Exum and Burke, as well as another young SG to start or backup Burks.

We get the C we need, who has shown when given minutes he can score, rebound and defend.
As for Evans & Clark, well they will have half a season & we will have half a season to see if they are worth keeping as 2nd unit guys.

On top of that we get to dump Jose & Timmy's contracts for shorter ones.

Going by his performances at the 5 when Favors was out, I'd say he'd do just fine as our starting Centre.

Mudiay
Matthews
Melo
Milsap (Although if we go after a FA PF we may have to skip Milsap as I cant see him leaving ATL now)
Kanter
