As it turns out, Buke was absolutely right. The Clips and Nets did have a semi-serious discussion about a two-for-two swap – Livingston/Maggette for Marcus/Vince – but the patient died on the table about a week ago. Here’s the thing: We’re told it’s entirely possible that they could revisit it before the deadline – or perhaps some other permutation -- if this thing starts to go sideways again.

You should probably start by discussing this: Vince might drive you nuts at times, but you may never know whether Maggette is anything but a talented irritant. He’s iron-worker strong, he’ll take anybody off the dribble, and he gets to the line whenever he wants – better than any other perimeter player, the numbers show. But he’s injury prone, the next pass he makes for profit might be his first, and he is not an eager defender.

Livingston? He’s still only 21, far from the finished product, but. . . .sorry, can’t trust that body. Play just one full season first, then maybe we’ll talk.

You can be certain that the Clips would jump all over it. El Lay loves stars, and the Clips have probably convinced themselves that Vince is a guy they can fall in love with.

Either way, if the Nets think it through, they’ll pass.

Unless circumstances change significantly one month from now.

Addendum: Did you say Cuttino Mobley instead of Maggette? We say getouttamyface.
Welcome to the SUCK!
