Steve Mills went to see his game in the last couple days. Just looking at it logically...Frank is a 6-5/6'6 guard that can spot shoot, willing passer, active defender on multiple positions who plays on a team format based on the scouting reports out on him

these are all things Phil has mentioned as priorities. Looking at Pippen/MJ/Kobe/Harper...Frank fits the mold body type wise aka a guy that can guard 1-3 and pass.

He's nowhere near the player or athlete as those guys are but he w/o a doubt fits the mold....I'd assume his wingspan is as high or higher than Pippens tho which is insane.

also one of the youngest players in the draft...so it may take time for him to pan out
If it came down to Fox or Frank, who would you go with? A lot of mock drafts show us taking Frank, but I'm reluctant to pick such an unknown. We did well with KP, but I don't want to push our luck.

Fox............he's quicker, better court vision and passer, great at getting to the rim at will, and he's a very aggressive defender at the PG position.

That being said, Frank has the potential to be even better at the areas that Fox is already good at (except for Fox's more superior athleticism, of course).

Agreed. I've seen mock drafts have us taking Fox, Monk and Frank. I'm happy with any of those players, but I prefer the guys I've seen play and I'm preferable to Fox over Monk because of the position transition from NCAA to the NBA.

Haven't seen enough of Frank to be sure but a wingspan like his...on a guard with a shot on an upward swing.

If I was running an offense like most teams...I'd take fox but watching the playoffs and teams who succeed....you need guards who can defend and shoot the ball....frank based off highlights seems to have that. But I'd need to see an actual game to truly judge.

Since I'm not high on Tatum I think he ends up a knick

in a pg, i think hops are the most overrated tool. quickness and length get used all the time, both sides of the ball. among the intangibles, you want a player that will listen and learn from the staff, use that knowledge wisely on the court. also, the work ethic in the gym and at game time. i think if you have those, you have the foundations of being a genuine nba pg, the rest is up to the player. one of my mentors once told me "everyone can learn skills, i need people with character".

I don't see an issue with character with any of the prospects so far.

At this point this is where i stand

take Frank at 7...Take Josh Hart later in the draft.

I really would like to see Josh in our offense...seems like a great guard to have on your team if you play from the post out. Plus he can play either guard role either the one initiating or the one posting...and he can come in today and play a role for us...Will/KP ...even if Melo stays..would benefit having Josh Hart out there.

and even tho we are set at the Center spot...i'd consider Ike from UCLA if we can get another pick from the Melo trade. He's the type of force you need next to KP...hes a physical force..blocks shots..hard screener..good on offensive glass..all he needs to do is learn fundamentals and a year or 2 off the bench and the D league and you can role out Ike/KP/Frank which is elite defensive tools right there all young as hell.

Are there anyway we can get the Kings to trade their 8th and 10th pick to us if we stay ahead of them but don't get into the top 3? I mean if we stay at 7th and they stay at 8 and 10... If we look at DraftExpress' latest mock draft... they have Makkanen going at 6. That could mean that Isaac, Smith Jr., Monk & Ntilikna are all available between 7-10. I would love any of those players and therefore two of them instead of one really excites me. I do not want both Smith Jr. and Ntilikna but then what the kings do decide who we take at 8. If they pick a PG at 7 then we take the other at 8. If they take Monk or Isaac at 7 we pick the other and the take however is left at 10 between FN and Smith Jr.

Ntilikna might work best with Monk as he could guard SG and then Monk could handle the PG on D.

would be awesome to consider but lets be real...who would make that trade?

I know... The only way it could happen if the player that the Kings want above anybody else is still available at 7 and they fear we will pick that player... So it would have to happen on draft night.

based off history...i doubt that happens

and lets just say we had 2 picks this lottery...i doubt we would do that deal either. Esp at the range they are picking.

You are probably right... we would have to end up in the Top 3 to get the Kings to listen to us... and would we even do it if we have a top 3 pick?

precisely

edit: its rough to do that just because right now everything is kind of in the same boat..the difference between Fox and Dennis Smith right now isnt far since no games have been played at the same time no one would do that trade and be the guy that traded the next all star for Acie Law and Joe Alexander

I just say we pick who we like where we are. If you have other assets to garner another 1st rounder then by all means but thats better because the players we have now..we already know what they can do. easier to let those go.

I'm totally with this. I don't see many scenarios I like that involve moving up or down. Maybe I'll see something different after the lottery. I doubt we can move into the top 3 from 7+ without trading KP.

its hard to tell who's gonna be available at 7 because im sure there will be a mix up but... looking at the mocks i really see Monk going before we pick.

If Lauri/Monk/Isaac have good workouts...that may leave us in a crazy situation on draft night.

Fultz/Lonzo/Jackson/Tatum will be gone before 7.....after that tho...not sure.

Everyone is high on fox and I am also but I'm more concerned about his weight than his jump shot.

He's compared to john wall....who was 196 going into the NBA....fox is 170... wall was just as fast as fox...it's a totally diff ball game with this 25 lbs surviving in the league. Fox needs to get to 185 just to get thru a 82 game season I think

Riddle me this - Boston has the #1 pick and every mock draft has them taking Fultz. BUT, they are overloaded at the G position - Thomas, Bradley, Smart and Rozier. Does this pick get traded? Do they not resign Bradley after this season? Or let IT go after next? You can't get rid of the defensive blood in the backcourt in Bradley and you can't get rid of IT since he's the face of the franchise. So do you make a play for George and trade the pick?

I have a feeling we'll be hearing more trade rumors for the next couple of weeks involving Paul George due to what you're saying Stevo. Especially since the #2 pick is also the Lakers, whom are also targeting Paul George via trade.

Not only do the Celtics & Lakers both have the Top 2 picks in the draft, they are the Top 2 teams targeting Paul George in the trade market.

I don't think the Top 2 picks in the draft will be set in stone, in terms of the team.......not the player. I'm sure Fultz/Ball/Jackson are still the Top draftees, but whether 2 out of the 3 guys end up on the Lakers and/or Celtics will depend on a potential Paul George trade.

That is how I feel......it seems the Celtics & Lakers Top 2 slots in the draft ALONG with the Paul George trade possibility just adds some nice fueled drama heading into the off-season now.

Probably wiser to draft Fultz and then wait until free agency. Gordan Hayward is an FA and has been linked to Boston. He alone could transform that team without them giving up assets.

Then maybe you call up NO and see if they might flinch and give you AD fur the same package.

Thomas
Bradley/Smart
Haywood/Crowder
Davis/Olynik
Horford

Think that gives Cleveland some trouble? I think so.
