2011 NYKFP Mock Lottery Competition (Results Posted)

Postby Naan » June 19, 2011, 2:03 pm

Credit to rtn393 for beginning this forum tradition.

Welcome to the seventh annual NYKFP Mock Lottery Competition! Post your prediction of the lottery picks (1-14) using the template below. Up for grabs, as always, is the right to brag. Below the template is the scoring system. I will judge and the post the results at the end of the thread by Saturday, June 25. The 2011 NBA Draft will be televised on ESPN on Thursday, June 23 at 7:00 PM EST.

Regulations: Copy/paste the below template into your message body and replace the question marks with the name of a draft entrant. The scoring system requires you to guess the spot at which the player is drafted, not which team the player ends up with. In short, do not factor trades into your mock. You will receive up 10 points for correctly predicting the player the Knicks draft. You will not be penalized for incorrectly predicting New York's selection.

1) Cleveland - ???
2) Minnesota - ???
3) Utah - ???
4) Cleveland - ???
5) Toronto - ???
6) Washington - ???
7) Sacramento - ???
8) Detroit - ???
9) Charlotte - ???
10) Milwaukee - ???
11) Golden State - ???
12) Utah - ???
13) Phoenix - ???
14) Houston - ???

17) New York - ???

Scoring: The scoring system used by rtn393 is based on the nba.com system. If you guess a pick correctly, you receive 14 points. If you are off by one position, you receive 13, off by two is 12, and so on. If a player you entered is not chosen in the lottery, you receive 0 points.

You may edit your selections (using the "Edit" button on the top right corner of your submitted post) until 7:00 PM EST on the night of the draft.

Past Champions:
(2010) wallace044 & BenNY89 - 178 points
(2009) rebound - 176 points
(2008) wallace044 - 174 points
(2007) Cadi - 179 points
(2006) joeyk24k - 150 points
(2005) FuryRealm25 - 139 points

Lastly, be sure to stop by the NYKFP Chat or any designated draft thread during the draft to discuss the picks with your fellow posters.

OK, I've decided I shake things up a little bit for fun:

1) Cleveland - Derrick Williams, shock, the Cavs take Williams instead of Irving
2) Minnesota - Kyrie Irving , trades this pick later
3) Utah - Brandon Knight
4) Cleveland - Jonas Valanciunas, we have a trade: Number 4 and cash are going to Minnesota, Number 2 to Cleveland
5) Toronto - Enes Kanter
6) Washington - Jan Vesely
7) Charlotte - Kawhi Leonard
8) Detroit - Bismack Biyombo
9) Charlotte - Kemba Walker
10) Sacramento - Jimmer Fredette
11) Golden State - Marcus Morris
12) Utah - Alec Burks
13) Phoenix - Tristan Thompson
14) Houston - Chris Singleton

(15) Indiana - Klay Thompson
(16) Philadelphia - Donatas Motiejunas
17) New York - Iman Shumpert

1) Cleveland - Kyrie Irving --- consensus #1 pick
2) Minnesota - Derrick Williams --- Minny isn't afraid to create a positional glut, will try to take advantage of Beasley's raised value
3) Utah - Enas Kanter --- natural heir to Memo Okhur
4) Cleveland - Kawhi Leonard --- all-purpose forward fills need for athleticism and defense
5) Toronto - Kemba Walker --- Toronto reaches to get some 'star power'
6) Washington - Jonas Valanciunas --- the rebuilding Wiz can afford to wait for him
7) Sacramento - Jimmer Fredette --- fills the need for outside shooting, good complement to Tyreke
8) Detroit - Brandon Knight --- Stuckey's not the answer at PG
9) Charlotte - Chris Singleton --- replacement for G. Wallace
10) Milwaukee - Tristan Thompson --- dynamic PF to pair up with Bogut
11) Golden State - Bismack Biyombo --- much needed defensive big
12) Utah - Klay Thompson --- they could use another shooter
13) Phoenix - Marcus Morris --- versatile forward fills a number of needs
14) Houston - Donatas Montejiunas --- long-term replacement for Yao

17) New York - Nikola Vucecic --- very good fit for our needs

13) Phoenix - Jonas Valanciunas
14) Houston - Marcus Morris

17) New York - Alec Burks - Truly a steal if he falls this far. Billups mentors him as well.

I'll actually be on a flight during the draft, so when I land and gain internet access I'll judge the mocks and determine the winner.

BTW: I can't believe that nobody here has Burks in the top ten. Everybody (including me) seems to buy too much into draftexpress. But because Burks is my number one target, I'm happy if everybody is right. :) I don't really believe it though. But I get a feeling that at least one great prospect will fall to us. Hope our staff picks it then and doesn't overvalue a guy that came up late with a great workout but still would be a reach at 17.

That gimpy looking push shot of his will make teams pause, and he lacks range.

The 2011 NYKFP Mock Lottery Competition Champion is nyknicksfan27!

I don't know how he did it, but nyknicksfan27 somehow amassed 178 points in one of the worst, but most unpredictable drafts in a long while. Well done. I'd like to thank everyone who participated for taking the time to create a mock and I hope to see you all again next year.
