NYKFP Mock Lottery Competition 2009

Postby Naan » June 19, 2009, 3:41 pm

Credit to rtn393 for beginning this forum tradition. Posted early this year to allow for additional participants and time to edit mocks.

Welcome to the fifth annual NYKFP Mock Lottery Competition. Post your prediction of picks 1-14 (lottery) using the template below. Up for grabs are bragging rights. This could be the last draft for many years in which our New York Knicks own a lottery selection (pick 8). Below the template is the scoring system. I will judge and the results will be posted at the end of the thread on Friday, June 26. The 2009 NBA Draft will be held on Thursday, June 25.

Regulations: Copy/paste the below template into your message body and replace the question marks with the name of a draft entrant. The scoring system requires you to guess at which spot the player is drafted, not which team ends up with the rookie. In short, do not factor trades into your mock.

1) Los Angeles - ???
2) Memphis - ???
3) Oklahoma City - ???
4) Sacramento - ???
5) Washington - ???
6) Minnesota - ???
7) Golden State - ???
8) New York - ???
9) Toronto - ???
10) Milwaukee - ???
11) New Jersey - ???
12) Charlotte - ???
13) Indiana - ???
14) Phoenix - ???

Scoring: The scoring system used by rtn393 is based on the nba.com system. If you guess a pick correctly, you receive 14 points. If you are off by one position, you receive 13, off by two is 12, and so on. If a player you entered is not chosen in the lottery, you earn 0 points.

You may edit your selections (using the "Edit" button on the top right corner of your submitted post) until 7:00 PM EST on the night of the draft.

Past Champions:
(2008) wallace044 - 174 points
(2007) Cadi - 179 points
(2006) joeyk24k - 150 points
(2005) FuryRealm25 - 139 points

Finally, be sure to stop by the NYKFP Chat during the draft.

1) Los Angeles - Griffin - no suspense here
2) Memphis - Thabeet, Thabeet, Thabeet - that's what I'm reading
3) Oklahoma City - Harden - don't believe that you take a player to possibly acquire a stud via a sign and trade, so they're taking the better fit
4) Sacramento - Rubio - do they like him now or not :?
5) Minnesota - Evans - the replacement for Foye who won't be compared to Roy
6) Minnesota - Flynn - honestly, I have no clue what to make out of Minny's second pick :?
7) Golden State - Hill - Warriors already have plenty of guards
8) New York - Curry - the Flynn pick opened up this possibilty, but could Curry be overhyped?
9) Toronto - Holiday - a guy with lots of potential, could be a good pick for us, too
10) Milwaukee - Jennings - for now I don't believe he will fall through the lottery as some mock drafts suggest
11) New Jersey - Henderson - seems to be a lock here
12) Charlotte - Lawson - Brown will put Felton on the trading block and go with another Tarheel
13) Indiana - Clark - Pacers can use a versatile guy like him
14) Phoenix - DeRozan - Kerr takes the athlete to please Nash

6. TWolves - Tyreke Evans
7. Warriors - Jordan Hill
8. Knicks - James Harden (best player in this draft, major steal for Knicks)
9. Raptors - DeMar DeRozan
10. Bucks - Jrue Holiday
11. Nets - Earl Clark (BUST)
12. Bobcats - Terrence Williams
13. Pacers - James Johnson
