NYKFP Mock Lottery Competition 2007 (Champion: Cadi!)

Postby rtn393 » June 26, 2007, 2:20 pm

Results at end of thread.

This is the third annual NYKFP Mock Lottery Competition. Post your prediction of picks 1-14, as well as pick 23, using the template I provide. As always, bragging rights are up for grabs!

This year, in a change from the last two years, you can earn 10 bonus points by correctly predicting the Knicks' selection.

Who will be this year's champ? I'll start the competition with my picks.

1) Portland - Greg Oden +14
2) Seattle - Kevin Durant +14
3) Atlanta - Al Horford +14
4) Memphis - Joakim Noah +9
5) Boston - Corey Brewer +12
6) Milwaukee - Mike Conley +12
7) Minnesota - Jeff Green +12
8) Charlotte - Yi Jianlian +12
9) Chicago - Spencer Hawes +13
10) Sacramento - Al Thornton +10
11) Atlanta - Rodney Stuckey +0
12) Philadelphia - Brandan Wright +10
13) New Orleans - Thaddeus Young +13
14) LA Clippers - Javaris Crittenton +0

23) New York - Wilson Chandler +10

Total: 155

Please note that precitions can be edited (using the 'edit' button on the bottom right corner of your post) until 7:00 PM ET on the night of the draft.

Scoring: The scoring system I use, which is based on the nba.com system, places greater emphasis on quantity than on order. If you guess a pick exactly right, you recieve 14 points. If you are off by one position, you recieve 13, off by two, 12, and so on. However, if the player you select does not appear in the lottery at all, you recieve zero points. Last year's champion, joeyk24k, only had two of his 14 picks slide out of the lottery.

Previous Results:

2006:

Champion - joeyk24k: 150
2nd) rtn393: 147
3rd) Kolagus: 144

2005:

Champion - FuryRealm25: 139
2nd) Knickerbocker33: 135
3rd) shakespeare: 133

I was born with the knicks inside me. Knicks are one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a necessity for me-like food or water.

Don't worry. I'm in. Was just waiting whether a trade happens today or not, but I think I can start the Mock now, because it seems to be quiet right now...

In the meantime check the ESPN Mock duel between Ford and Simmons:

Some funny passages.

wow, and I liked Bill Simmons and thought he was worth listening to for NBA advice, but I guess he's just another mindless drone who is overrating Durant to a disgusting degree. he's not alone, any time you see coverage on the draft, there is always one starry-eyed fool who is convinced that Durant will be a "10 time all-star" or "future hall-of-famer" or "player who will seriously contend for the all time scoring title". has any player been so unbearably overhyped coming into the draft? for the love of god, high scoring forwards are in the draft every few years, and very few of them have the impact to the degree that people predict they will.

Not believing everything you mentioned here (hall of famer etc.), but I think you are dead wrong on Durant. He will be special. He is not simply a high scoring forward.

Does anyone think I have lost it by having Williams going so early with Hawes nowhere in sight.

No, I'm gambling too with having Stuckey, Crittenton and both Youngs all going into the lottery. No risk, no fun. Go for the win!

Oooh, I forgot about Thaddeus Young!

I read the kid has gotten rave reviews.

You're so right, spree. I see alot of posters going for the extra point. But we up the ante going for two. Good luck.
