The other thing to consider H20 besides sheer talent is coaching styles. You go out and get Chandler/Amare/Melo.........and then you sign a coach who's playstyle is more like Melo/Amare or Melo/Chandler at the PF/C.

In other words our lineup was too big and paint based for the coach we hired. That's on the Knicks FO of the time to match coaching philosophy with talent. But in any case I agree with you. You cant pass up that talent but you're looking at an immature roster for a guy of his talents. Youd almost be forced to trade youth for established players and then youd have lost the entire feel of what you were building.

But youd have to do it nonetheless

if we draft the missing piece this year...we good.

looking at KP and AD the perfect type of PG would be Billups

a high % shooter that passes and orchestrates the offense and no slouch on defense.

No matter how we get there, we need an elite guard. Not at all concerned with our frontcourt talent. Lotta guys out there, too soon to ordain the missing piece; we gotta establish our identity first.

Yeah, after seeing three games, it seems the knicks are looking at playmakers across all 5 positions rather than a PG who can break down the defense. Knicks are playing positionless basketball on both ends so it doesn't make sense to break the bank for a guy who needs the ball in his hands when that seems to be the last thing Fiz wants to do.

The only times I've seen much dribbling are in post up situations and at the end of quarters, when the Knicks seem to need reminding to not go for the first shot. Spurs in the golden years relied on the draft to find players they could mold into their system and I suspect the knicks will follow that plan for the future rather than making a big splash in free agency.

This season both Kawhi and Butler were looking for trades and we heard nary the whisper that the knicks had made an offer. This season will be about establishing an identity and if the knicks are competing all season, you have to think management will want to build on that by resigning players, rather than go in a new direction.

Ian Begley
ESPN Staff Writer
David Fizdale says Mitchell Robinson will spend some time in the G League this season, in part, because he hasn't played a lot of basketball. But Fizdale makes it clear that Robinson will also be playing games/practicing with the Knicks in his rookie season. Robinson will play in New York's preseason finale on Friday after missing time with an ankle injury.

Makes sense with Vonleh also gunning for that back-up C spot and Kanter playing so well so far. A good way to get Robinson's total minutes this year up. Lots of repetitions...

Ya know, before moving Frank to every other position maybe its wise to consider sending him down to D-league himself with heavy emphasis on running an offense. There he can be aggressive and build some swagger.

I think I'd almost rather that than write him off as a non pg
