ESPN says Knicks management is worst in the league

Postby Ingus » March 28, 2017, 2:44 pm

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19017640/nba-2017-nba-management-rankings-top-bottom

ESPN rated every team's owner, basketball decision-maker(s) and coach from 0 to 10, and came up with these ratings.

Rating breakdown by coach, GM and owner will be published later this week.

Do you agree that our management is worst in the league? Or should we be a bit higher?

I have been following Knicks since KP was drafted, so it's close to 2 seasons. I have seen senseless trades, Jackson interfering with coaching, and weird rotations. And I don't see a clear vision for the team.

And recently I read an interview with Jackson where he said - we will play triangle next season, and get it right this time :?

No question we are the worst in the NBA. What about all sports? We have to be top 5 worst along with Dan Snyder and the Marlins owner.

there's no doubt. And Stevo is dead on with Dan Snyder. Talking with redskins fans about their woes is like logging onto nykfp and just replacing all the names with nfl personnel.

certainly close. 2 top 10 picks in this draft isn't bad though. Hield is doing 15 points on 49% shooting from the floor in the 14 games of march. WCS is playing better with minutes. They have Evans, Gay, Collison (i.e. tradable assets). Yeah, there is GM/player beef but not with someone who is STILL ON THE TEAM WITH YEARS LEFT ON HIS CONTRACT.

In what world is Dolan worse than Porkhov? Did people just forget that he exists because he hasn't done anything stupid in the last year? :?

At least he hired Sean Marks.

not really a fan of phil as gm/pres but i dont think hes the worst. Rob hennigan of the magic should be the worst. The guy cant draft well, lets guys like harkless, harris go for nothing and had 3 coaches in 3 seasons, how he still has a job is beyond me

That's true I guess what they're doing is ranking the coach, president and owner and weighting them as if they're equally important. To me the management is as bad as the owner is when the interfere to the extent that Porkhov has (and Dolan has in the past). Sean Marks had nothing to do with Porkhov wanting to get that Pierce/Garnett deal done but it's still crippling the team and there's no reason to think Porkhov won't do something stupid again.

Phil has just been terrible at promoting a culture, hell I liked the Isaiah teams a lot more.

Report: Kurt Rambis ‘beyond unpopular’ with Knicks players

Playing for the Knicks is a tremendous privilege.

You have an owner who will take care of you into retirement, a president who cherishes your contributions, a head coach who sticks up for you and assistant coach who connects with you.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

Kurt Rambis, who is beyond unpopular with the players, league sources said. When players want coaching and teaching, they get yelling, sources said. Most wonder about Rambis’ allegiances, because after all, he’s Jackson’s guy, not Hornacek’s.

Oh, right. Back to reality.

Phil Jackson infamously pushed for Rambis, who finished last season as the Knicks’ interim coach, to become the permanent head coach. Jackson eventually settled for Jeff Hornacek, who kept Rambis on staff.

Rambis’ record in New York includes stunting Kristaps Porzingis‘ development, engendering little to no faith from Carmelo Anthony, sticking with a couple over-the-hill guards in a rebuilding season and liking a pornographic tweet.

But Jackson has always vouched for him. Even in his season-ending press conference, the Knicks president spoke highly of Rambis.

A disliked assistant coach isn’t great for player morale. A disliked assistant coach who’s backed firmly by the boss does quite the number on it.

Scary.
The Porzingis blessing is real.

Rambis is exhibit A for the sorry state of this team. He NEEDS to go. The fact he is still employed is pure nepotism with Phil and he would be out of work otherwise. That to me if MIND BLOWING. We have one of the worst coaches in NBA history leading our team. What the fuck? Seriously, what the fuck? It defies logic.
