I think we say Lilard cuz he'll be able to score but not like Rose did. And he'll be able to pass, probably better than Rose does. Actually you want a good idea, maybe Marbury is s good examine. I could see DSJ at his peak being a 21&7 pg. And I only say 7 cuz in today's game there are more guys who can pass.
Prime Marbury? I think DSJ is more powerful and athletic.. But i can see the point there.. I used to love Marbury, so i'd love to have that on the team..

The fact that he plays bigger just makes it better..

Some people are comparing him with Steve Francis.. Not feeling that one..

The whole issue is mental make up...for example..if a player is athletic and talented as Tim Thomas but has the mental make up of a player who wants to work on his game...he can be an all star.

But if a player has the physical gifts of kobe but doesnt have that fire..he may just be role player

at this stage of prospects its just physically what can they do, what motor do they have and have they produced yet in the leagues they played in..if they pass those tests then you bring them in to talk to them and see where their mind is.

Physically...Steve Francis and Marbury are all world...like legit generational talents their bodies didnt screw them over..their minds did..their ability to conform to a team concept and defense is what made them struggle..if you put that talent with another guys mind...those might be 2 hall of famers we are talking about here.

on offense...DSJ can score and pass in the NBA today..hes a 3 point shot away from being a flat out problem..but him being able to defend..know when to defer to other players will depict if he can be a champion type player and hopefully with a couple championship type players..you can have a championship caliber team.

Put it this way...outside of shooting the 3..Curry didnt have any attribute better than Marbury...Prime Marbury would cross you, run you over, get to the rim..dish it to a big guy and if you slept on him he's dunkin it and was relentless it was all game with him, he couldnt guard anyone and he only was happy with the ball in his hands...but Curry plays in a team concept..Marbury lived to go 20/8 and clashed with teammates...and thats why Curry is a hall of famer(not a great defender but he makes plays on that side of the floor more than Marbury every did) and Marbury is a guy only we remember in another 5-10 years.

DSJ and Monk could be scary good....DSJ at worst is a starting PG...Monk can either be Steph....or Lou Williams lmao the guy is a pure wild card pick

I didnt watch many college games, but the most exciting prospect from what I saw was De'Aaron Fox, seems like a warrior. Thats the point guard I'd want to draft.

If Phil considers D Rose, hes a fool. Its time to part ways. Phil would only consider him out of ego, he got rid of so many assets to obtain Rose. Were talking about guys who are contributing for playoff teams. If the Knicks end up with nothing then what was the point.

Is there really any doubt that we should go into full rebuild mode?

I just worry about keeping KP around while we do that.......
I'd trade Melo & whatever else excluding KP for as many picks & young talent we can get.

Although with Phil still in charge, I am skeptical anything will really change

Phil has implied that but....the comment about rose was weird

Look I cant lie, I was pretty optimistic at the start of the season.......BUT we all knew a lot would depend on guys like Noah/Rose/Jennings playing somewhere close to their best.

Having Noah's contract hurts and as much as I love Melo, having his any longer just isnt beneficial to anyone.

Please correct me if I am wrong but as it stands right now we have pick 6/7 and 2 2nd rounders plus about $25mil in cap space.
IF we trade Melo simply for picks, what happens with his $26m & our cap? - Does the team trading for him absorb that and we have a spare $26m to sign picks/FA's? Just not sure as I know with trades the salaries are supposed to match but that doesnt necessarily apply when trading for picks.

My ideal scenario would be to trade anyone we can aside from KP & Willy for as many picks as we can. Go with a YOUNG team with 0 Playoff expectations for the next few years where KP can grow into being the leader of the team/franchise. Keep a few VET's around for the locker room. Least that way if a good player comes available via trade we have a bunch of picks/young players to deal with.

At this point I can't tell if Phil is just odd or completely clueless. The genius possibility is long gone.

Completely agree tao.

I just think it comes down too the fact that being a great player doesnt mean you'll be a great coach.....like being a great coach doesnt mean you'll be a great GM.

I suppose Phil went for the home run rather than playing the percentages. IF Rose, BJ & Noah all stayed healthy and got to even 75-80% of their BEST we'd probably been a playoff team.
Anyway it didnt work, all felt apart & the rest is history.

I just cant see Phil going full rebuild - I mean if he did would he even be around when the team starts to fire?
IMO he will trade Melo but not solely for picks, he will draft the 'best player available' at 6/7 and wouldnt be surprised if he re-signed Rose if the $ is right.

That's a good comparison. Same build but Marbury has a better jump shot while I see DSJ as more athletic and a nightmare on the open court coz Marbury was a half court pg. If DSJ comes close to Marbury's 20 and 8 production per night minus the primadonna attitude, (although Marbs matured well in China) he's gonna have a long successful career.

i dont think the knicks and twolves are targetting the same player(they have 3 young pgs 4 if you include lavine) and since the lotto odds are unaffected or nearly so, it doesnt matter much.

that being said its always nice to be in the better position.

i disagree actually. They have 3 young pgs but they dont have a PG with anywhere near as much upside as their 2, 3, or 4. Considering there is no center worthy of the top 10 pick, I really expect the Wolves to pick a PG. They're not going to pick a SF with Wiggins on the roster and pretty much every top 10 pick is a PG or a SF.

Fultz, Ball, Fox, Smith, Monk, Ntlilikililiilnkalikialaink
Jackson, Tatum, Isaac

With the 7th pick, we can get jumped 3 times and fall to 10, And thus, we really could end up missing out on all of the guys that fill a clear need. Granted, the odds of us falling to 10 are pretty small, but it could happen. As a Knicks fan, that's all I need to know to expect the worst

If I were them and dont get top 3.

Tatum isnt Wiggins...Fox/Frank/Monk/DSJ and Dunn are all in the same weight class but can't play together.

they are weak at the 4 spot...they have 2 young studs...they need a goon out there
