The Knicks and Joakim Noah are expected to part ways before training camp

Very interesting. Wonder what route we're going to take?

Mills certainly lacks patience with Noah, it seems (yes, I'm only signaling out Mills from the entire regime.........he's the only one with the previous background of impatience that wants to go ALL-IN for the 2019 free agency)

I'm ok with buying him out or letting him ride out his contract.

Spree is right. It wasn't overated, on the contrary, it was underated with people thinking that the type of play style and small ball will not win in the NBA. Look at the NBA now.

The roster was simply way too old and so its worth looking at i hopes of creating a younger and better version. Our young ones now have that potential to emulate and be even better. I chooseto think of it as learning from our very own knicks history rather than from the history of a different team.

Best to place them side by side to better see the similarities. I just realized THJ and Smith are both JRs which means THJ is best as super sub and will win NBA 6th man, LOL. Oh and they both averaged 18ppg. Jason Kidding aside, one cant deny that they are mirror images just as KP and Melo's moves are.

Current Roster--------12-13 Roster

Burke-----------------------Felton
Ntilikina-------------------Prigioni
Knox------------------------Shumpert
Porzingis-----------------Anthony
Kanter---------------------Martin
Hardaway Jr.----------Jr Smith

12-13 was a fun team to watch...loved cheering for them. felt they had a chance to win 1 round and would die out in 2nd.

i take that year for what it was...when you get a bunch of old guys and a iso scorer to a coach that likes old guys and a iso scorer and a GM that backs him. You'll get some success.

but thats where I leave it. I'm not gonna carry that into "how we need build a roster" stuff.

and making the same post twice doesnt make it right. but its in the past and there really isnt any new points regarding that team. so I'll leave it that.

I like him. Keeping him though means moving either Frank, Mudiay or even Burke to SG.

Frank at off guard is the best option no doubt or burke and mudiay being let go mid season. Imagine playing a defensive 2pg Allen-Frank backcourt.

Kareem brings effort and toughness, plays with a high motor. Looks like he's improved his playmaking, shooting and finishing near the cup. I'd like to keep him, can we remove the 2-way status from hicks and give it to him?

i agree wit this 100%....but this man did say that he feels we are players next year in free agency.

unless this team is better than we thought....we shouldnt be thinking about adding any max contracts

We are only players in FA if we achieve something meaningful that we can build on: defensive identity, ball movement, efficient scoring. Otherwise, stick to the plan, grow the team.

Mario

He was pretty good at the end of last season and he would be a very decent contributor with some defense, but then again it all depends on how Fizz plans to use him

There are so many to choose from...

I think it's either Trey or Mario. Vonleh will be solid, though; his thing is defense and rebounding, but he'll get more of a role on offense, bigger than the role he had in POR. Curious that Mudiay is so quiet, he better bring his A-game or he'll be gone.

Hey, why doesnt Enes get any love here? I feel like this is David Lee 2.0. A great player, helps his team win but for some reason, all we think about is upgrading him. Yeah, I get that his defense sucks but hes the only guy on the roster who can rebound and finish near the rim. I dont really see how having him shoot 3s works on a tactical level, I mean youre taking a top 5 offensive rebound guy and movibg him away from the rim. But hey, pass the Kool Aid.

Lee was a much better passer...Lee is my guy.

Kanter is making over 15 mill a year...and will be a FA..and you can't spend bank on a player that doesnt defend nor pass simple as that.

Defending multiple positions/Playmaking/Shooting the 3 is how I'm judging players because thats the wave...if i'm paying max for a wing/guard player he better be able to do all 3 of those things.

Bigs have to do 2 of those things.

If you do things outside of that your not a starter in my book..your a specialist which is fine we need them also but he priority is those things.

Frank does 2 of those things....working on shooting the 3
Knox based on his body of work..can do 1 of those things...working on te other 2.
KP is a big...he defends multiple positions and shoots the 3
Mitchell based on his tools does 1 of those things...on IG seems like hes working on 1.

those 4 guys progression on those things will depict their ceiling.

Kanter...is a net negative at 2/3 and has potential to shoot the 3. He's a bench guy when the ship gets right.

Based on the amount of players you have hitting on those attributes depict how you play. the Warriors are known for shooting 3's but really from me what makes them devastating and thebest team ever isnt the 3..its the passing..they have the most passers on the floor at all times which gets the greatest shooter ever in Curry...free reign to kill.

Spurs in 2014 had the same boat. The ball looked like a laser on half court sets..usually the ball moves fast on the fast break but not for them...manu gets the ball across the half court line and before you can rotate they passed the ball 3 times and by the time you recover they passed it 6 times and scored on you. Again they did all 3 but playmaking they dominated based on the entire roster.

But look at the Heatles...yes they had passers and a lesser extent they had 3 point shooters but you know what set them apart?...they had 4 starters that could all switch...even Chamlers can cover some 3's off a switch. Yes they had Lebron at peak cyborg form and Wade as the coolest dude ever but how that team won...was having them along with Haslem/Bosh guys who can cover the perimeter and the paint...it was torture against that defense.

overall my point is..you need all 3 of those things to win it all...but if your roster is more dominant in one of those 3 it will depict what your team is.

now before one of you goes on NBA.com or google "advance stats" for all these teams....all of this is based off the eye test. And when evaluating other teams/old teams i just trust that because i love watching the sport. The only time I look deeper into stats is for us. Based off my eyes of watching those games live and re watching them after time...thats my theme and thats how I'm judging our process of building a championship caliber team...keep it simple. Defend/Pass/Shoot the 3.

sorry this is meant for Kanter but i got a lil wound up for the upcoming week..GO KNICKS!!!
